去年北投文化國小女童遭割喉命案，震撼社會，昨女童命案地點，緊臨西湖國小、西湖國中，西湖國小表示，有家長反應，上午10點半左右，有陌生人曾在附近徘徊，更蹲在170公分高的圍牆墩柱上，面露詭異笑容，因被人發現即跳下人行道逃離。
警方表示，根據監視器畫面，王確實曾在西湖國小外行走，但沒看到有試圖翻牆，雖外型相似，是否為同一人，有待釐清。
西湖國小校長汪明芳表示，昨天上午有學童到學務處回報，指圍牆外疑似有名男子探頭探腦，後來也有一位經過學校的家長打電話反映此事。接獲通知後，總務處、學務處老師分別巡視校園四周，但已不見該男子身影。
經查看監視器後發現，男子沒有爬上圍牆。汪明芳推測，學校圍牆雖為穿透式，但上緣為尖銳的三角形，加上家長、學生對校園安全意識很高，讓這名男子未能闖入學校。
